Who: Anyone! All ALTs, HAJET members & non-members, friends, family, countrymen, JTEs, etc.

Transportation: If you do not drive, consider taking a train to a nearby ALTs town, then car-pooling. Contact me to help get you in touch with ALTs in the area that can help you!

By car from Obihiro approx. 2hrs; Asahikawa: approx. 4hrs; Abashiri: approx. 1.5hrs.

The entrance to the campsite parking lot is on 240, directly across from the Ainu Kotan Village. There is traffic light at the entrance.

EVENT Price: The event is free. However, the delicious dinner Saturday night is 500-yen if you’re not a HAJET member. Dinner will be falafels and salad prepared by Chef Simon

About the Site…
SITE RENTAL Price: 630-yen per person (315-yen for children) paid to the campsite caretaker at the camp office, not HAJET.

Facilities:
Free foot-bath/foot-onsen; toilets.

Nearby: Within walking distance there’s a Seicomart, the Ainu Kotan Village,
Lake Akan, tacky-souvenir shops.

No-No’s: No fireworks, no open fires (we’ll cook on grills.)

Saturday Itinerary: Early in the day/afternoon, we’re pretty much just gonna chill. There are hiking trails we could try; possible canoeing on Lake Akan; the Ainu Village. There will be tryouts for the HAJET musical in the late afternoon. Field-day events before dusk, with prizes. At night, Ben’s beard gives good back rubs.

  • Bring something to sleep on and in
  • Bring bug repellant, just in case
  • Bring your own alcohol
  • Bring a flashlight! (Though I’m sure you’ll be ok without one)
  • Bring bottled water and snacks and possibly breakfast, for yourself
