HOME AWAY FROM HOME: BOULDER, COLORADO!!!! but now, Rausu-chō, Hokkaidō. I can see the Russian island Kunashiri from my apartment and hope to kayak to it in the night secretly and return unscathed when my contract is up. It looks like a beautiful place. Too bad Russia stole it from Japan…

SCHOOL: Susquehanna University, BA English; University of Colorado, MA East Asian Languages & Cultures (Japanese Literature). Originally I had wanted to do comparative studies between post-WWII French & Japanese literature, but instead became enamored with medieval Japanese literature. There’s TONS of exciting literature from the “medieval” era that is virtually untranslated!

FAMILY: just me! I’m all alone!!!!

HOBBIES: reading, drums/percussion, snowboarding, cycling, good whiskey, outdoors stuff, indoors stuff. I hate manga and anime.

WHY JET?: My language ability wasn’t up to par for a top tier Ph.D. program, so JET is a good way to be on the ground learning the language. Also, in the future I will most likely be involved in teaching/education, so JET is a good thing to be a part of.

WHY THE HAJET PC? I like being a part of what is happening around me.
