Feb 19th
So, decision time is over. With the deadline passed for re-contracting decisions, all ALTs on the island should now know whether or not they’ll be a participant on the JET programme for the 2009-2010 stretch. In the upcoming week I’ll post an entry tailored to those who are heading home, but for now, let’s have a look at the folk who are going to be sticking around and entering the next 18 months together.

2009 HEC Test Preparation Packet is Available for Download
Feb 17th
Hello everyone!
HEC would like to remind you that the deadline for entries is just around the corner. Friday, March 13th is the last day for entries! Please be sure to fax your entry forms and furikomi your entry fees to me before March 13th! For more information about deadlines and entry information, please consult the 2009 Essential Guide available for download here.
Please be sure to send me an e-mail if you have sent either so that I can confirm I have received them and your students are entered.
I would also like to ask that if you haven’t entered your student already, please do not wait to the last moment. I will be out of Hokkaido from March 7th-12th, and will therefore be unable to confirm the entry of any students within that time period.
The 2009 HEC Test Preparation Packet lists rules, equipment, and has necessary forms needed for the administering of the test. All those administering the test must read and be familiar with the rules listed in this packet. Also included are the Declaration Forms necessary for the witness to sign before the test can take place. To give ALTs a better idea of what judges will be looking for, reference score sheets for the two divisions have also been placed in the packet. If you have a problem downloading the packet, please e-mail me and I will send it to you directly.
On a final note, HEC is still in need of JHS Regional and Head Judges. If you are interested in becoming a judge, please contact me and I will fill you in on the details.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at thinkhec |a| gmail.com.
Thank you,
Moraya Cortez
