HAJET Elections 2009 has begun!
Feb 6th
Hi everyone,
This is Thomas the HAJET Elections Coordinator for 2009. I’d like to announce the start of the HAJET Prefectural Council Elections. The elections will run from today, February 6 (Friday) until February 12 (Thursday) at 11:59pm. The list of candidates and their profiles is in the new issue of the Polestar that just released today. This year’s election is online-only, and to make sure that only HAJET members are voting, the voting site requires a password for access. You will be receiving the password via email very shortly. It will come to you from the same email address where you get your issue of Polestar. If you did not receive your copy of the Polestar when you think you should have, please make sure it really didn’t just get sorted into the Junk Mail bin, and after you’re really sure, then contact Austin or me at elections@hajet.org. For those of you receiving your Polestar via postal mail, check out the candidate profiles online while your copy is being mailed to you.
Please note that only your first vote will count, so please do not rush through the voting process. The elections ballot can be accessed at the following address:

Thank you! And to the candidates, good luck!

Last Call for HAJET PC Nominations!
Jan 18th
Hello everyone,
Thank you very much for your nominations throughout the last month and a half! The nominations period for the HAJET PC Elections is closing this Sunday night, so if you have any last minute nominations, send them in. If you want to nominate yourself, feel free to do so as well. The HAJET Elections website is always available at http://www.elections.hajet.org/ if you want information on any of the positions. Of course, I’m available to answer your questions as well. The HAJET Elections email is hajet.elections @ gmail.com.
As for those who I have contacted about nominations, but haven’t replied back to me yet, please do so as soon as you can. Your candidacy is not confirmed until you accept your nomination, and you do that by sending me a reply to my email. If you’re busy, just send me a one word “Yes”/”No” email and I’ll be happy with that as well.
Thanks again!
Thomas

HAJET Elections Update
Jan 5th
Please remember that HAJET is a very good cause, and really doesn’t take as much time as some might believe. HAJET is consistently one of the most well-run chapters of AJET, and while some might think HAJET bears an uncanny resemblance to high school student councils, well, your student council probably didn’t have to organize three seasonal meetings in different parts of Hokkaido, help out at the Sapporo Orientation, organize region-based welcome parties for newcomers, put an annual musical together, assist Project Outreach, organize Yuki Matsuri tours, compile a monthly newsletter, as well as running a little program called the Hokkaido English Challenge. And the list goes on.
So how can all this not vacuum all your free time up? Because the work is delegated across the group, and we want more people to help out by joining the HAJET PC (Prefectural Council). So yes, keep those nominations coming in. To those who have declined their nominations but want to change their mind, you are always welcome back! And to the people who have received an email about their nomination but haven’t replied back to me yet, please do so as soon as you can.
Thanks!

HAJET PC Nominations Have Started!
Dec 3rd
Hello everyone,
I’m Thomas, the HAJET Elections Coordinator for 2009. I’d like to announce that the nomination period for the 2009 HAJET Prefectural Council (PC) Elections has begun. From now until the first week of January (actual date to be announced later), I will be taking nominations for different positions in the HAJET PC. To see the list and explanations of the positions, go to http://www.elections.hajet.org.
Nominations are done via emailing me at hajet.elections @ gmail.com. Please include “HAJET PC Nomination” as the subject of the email. In that email, tell me who you would like to nominate, and for what position(s). You will also need to include the email address of the person you are nominating, because I will be contacting him/her to see if he/she accepts the nomination.
Please make sure that person is re-contracting for the following year!
A person may be nominated for one, some, or all of the positions, but he/she may only accept the nomination for one post. You may also nominate yourself for the position(s).
For detailed information about election procedures, please refer to the HAJET By-laws PDF at the bottom of the HAJET.org About page).
Good luck! Nominations close the first week of January.
Thomas
