The 2011 HAJET Winter Ball / Mid-year Maskerade
Dec 3rd
If you’re heading out to Mid Year Conference in Sapporo next week (and we know you all are), please consider joining HAJET on the night of Thursday December 9th for our Mid-year Maskerade. The event will be hosted at Latin dance bar/salsa club “El Mango” from 9pm. In addition to a two-hour nomihodai we will be hosting a silent auction of art created by your fellow HAJET members, and at the end of the night we will be crowning a Winter King and Queen.
What’s this “MasKerade” Business?
It’s like a traditional Venetian masquerade, except a little more ‘open concept.’ Come out in your best semi-formal duds and put on a mask. A Venetian-style one if you’re feeling the more traditional ‘masquerade’ vibe, or whatever madness you can create yourself or pick up at Donkihote in Tanuki Koji before the Maskerade. Literally any mask will do. Heck, we’ll even let you come if you haven’t got one.
Why Attend the Mid-year Maskerade?
It’s a great opportunity to have a good time with far-off friends as we’re all going to be in Sapporo anyway. Plus, it’s for a good cause as proceeds from the Maskerade and the art auction will benefit the Hokkaido English Challenge (HEC) contest and camp.
Where, When, How Much?
Thursday December 9th at 9pm – Midnight
El Mango Salsa Club: 北海道札幌市中央区南7条西3 青樹社ビルB1, just up Eki Mae Dori from the Lifort Hotel, where MYC will be taking place

Sounds Great. Where do I sign up?
Tickets will be available from the HAJET table outside the conference hall at Mid Year Conference or at the door of the event. When you’re at the HAJET table buying your tickets, you should also pick up one of the awesome new HAJET shirts that won the T-Shirt Design Competition.
If you require any additional information, or if you’d like to contribute a piece of original art to the art auction, be sure to email HAJET Social Coordinator Nicholas Jones at social.coordinator@hajet.org.
The ball is open to anyone who would like to attend. Invite your friends, family and co-workers be they Japanese, foreign, teachers or otherwise.
The 2009 HAJET (MYC) Winter Ball
Nov 3rd
Hey there everyone!
The HAJET (MYC) Winter Ball has been arranged, although the nijikai is still pending.
Here are the details for the Winter Ball:
- Place: Poseidon, Jasmac Plaza Hotel 6th Floor
- Date: Thursday, Dec. 3rd
- Time: 8:00 pm until 11:00 pm
- Price: 5,000 yen
- Food/Drink: A “light” buffet and all-you-can drink service are included in the ticket price until 10 11 pm. Vegetarian dishes will be included in the buffet.
- Theme: 1980′s Prom.
Last year’s Winter Ball was a lot of fun; Jasmac Plaza did an overall great job, especially with the buffet. I think that this year will be a blast as well, and Poseidon isn’t your typical party venue! So go to the nearest Second Street or Hard Off, and find yourself something rockin’!
Important Note: Please purchase your ticket before-hand, as Jasmac Plaza must know our final numbers before the event. A very limited number of tickets will be available at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis.
If you would like to buy a ticket, please e-mail social.coordinator@hajet.org.
