You’ve reached the center of the island, which means it’s time for the Central Welcome Party! 🎉 This year, as in years past, we’ll be staying at the great Niniu Campground in Shimukappu!
With a population density of about two people every kilometer, Shimukappu is all about the nature! 🏞 During winter, it’s famously the home of Tomamu Ski Resort (whose twin towers can be seen from the highway or train line nearby), one of the best resorts on the island! ⛷ This area is mountain climbing…central (see what we did there?), surrounded by the beautiful Hidaka mountains, but there are opportunities for rafting or leisurely strolling as well.
